Steph Gets Funding

Steph is a Great Nana and has lived in Thorntre/Brambles Farm most of her life. We met Steph when she came along to one of our community litter picks, her confidence was low, and it took her a lot of courage to come along. Steph really enjoyed the litter pick and decided to join in with other activities in the centre, even bringing her grand children along.

After a couple of weeks Steph explained that she was feeling happier and was enjoying meeting new people in her community. Steph asked if we could help her start her own community group to help other local people. Her idea was simple; tea, cake and a chat, “Steph’s Tea and Cake” was born. Steph holds her tea and cake group every Tuesday 1pm – 2:30pm from the community room. Everyone is welcome and a mixture of local people and organisations attend.

Steph’s Tea and Cake has now become an official constituted group. Steph recently applied for funding and has successfully secured a small pot of money to offer community afternoon teas from Ageing Better Middlesbrough.

Steph said; “It’s a great feeling to help my local community, I hope people benefit like I have”
