Early years

Our latest blog is all about Pavilion Nursery, our wonderful early years provider based in North Ormesby. I have the pleasure of working closely with manager Donna Pepper, the team and all the children who visit the nursery - some come to us week on week, others visit in the holidays, some stay with us all day, whereas others pop in for a few hours.

I spent the day with the team and children earlier this month and had a brilliant time reading, exploring shapes and colours and hearing what the children love best about their time at the nursery. Every child gets the opportunity to experience a whole host of different learning programmes aimed at giving them the essential learning tools as well as a broad experience of different cultures, religions and languages, all for the purpose of preparing them for their early years in school and the wider world. We make it our mission to provide the best service for as little cost as possible, so we are the cheapest in the area and offer a free of charge local pick up and drop off from the North Ormesby and St Alphonsos primary schools too.

Over the last couple of months the team supported the children to learn more about Diwali with a light party and they also held their own Halloween party. November saw them raise £45.97 in a Children in Need cake sale and in December, the group will be taking a trip to Stockton to see the pantomime Snow Queen along with a party to end the term, which everyone is very excited about.

In the future we’ll be building in time to host the children at our community centre in Thorntree so they can experience our sensory area. About half the children we work with have sensory needs, so we’ve spent a lot of time recently considering new ways that we can support them. This will also give them an opportunity to visit some new spaces and see some new faces which is all great for their development. We can’t wait to see where it takes us!
